This is for my Samurai Wally AU and here is the lore for the dude, be prepared it's long. Wally Darling was a samurai a protector to his master Barnaby an experienced swordsman who became legendary. Wherever they go Wally was always by his master's side, fighting off anyone foolish enough to come near them. The pair traveled together all over China, helping those in need and protecting villages until it was their time to leave. But this village would sadly be their last. Wally knee this village seemed off, he knew the people of this village were hiding something. All of these instincts that screamed at him to turn back, convince his master; his companion to leave this place. But he ignored all of that and trusts his master in his decision to help these villagers who call themselves neighbors. During the day, everything and everyone seemed normal. This nice young woman named Julie welcomed them to their village with open arms and introduced them to their culture where they worshipped this entity called HOME. Wally felt this funny feeling in his gut that was telling him that this sounded like a cult, but once again he shook it off. This Howdy individual gave him and his master these delicious apples that had the young samurai coming back for more. Frank seemed to be the village's historian as he showed them scrolls and tapestries about their village and their god that protected their village from any ill intended outsiders and any harm that threatens their nature. Eddie the village's courier travels from different villages to deliver letters/scrolls and parcels. Poppy runs a small farm and grows different crops and spices he never heard of until now. Sally Starlet runs a cute small clothing shop that caught his master's interest. This village sounded too good to be true, too peaceful even but beautiful, so nothing wrong with this village right? The samurai didn't object this to his master when Barnaby decided to stay in this village for a few days. Which didn't worry the samurai since they stayed in some villages for days or even weeks if helping them takes longer before they traveled again. Wally knee what his master was capable of, he knew what to do when he senses evil. Master Barnaby used the best of his abilities and unique techniques to seek out and slay the evil entitled that no one can see but himself. His special eyes are to thank for that since he always wears a blindfold to never show his eyes to anyone but knows where he's going. So, why did they stay in that village for five months? Why did Wally wake up that one night to see the villagers wearing red cloaks and carrying those torches? Walking into a mysterious cave? Why did the villagers pretend everything was okay? Why did he see miss Julie's home covered in strings that looked sharp enough to cut anyone who touches it? Wally should have listened to his instincts, picked up on the poor Julie's warnings and hints. He was too late to save her from her fate and everyone in the village walked around like nothing happened? Like she never existed?! Wally knew to not drink that tea, he knew those strings were trying to dig into his flesh to control him, like a puppet. So, this whole village is being controlled by the puppeteer like some puppets! Like if anyone steps out of line or don't keep up to their character...they will end up like poor Julie. Feeling great shame and a sense of dread for not listening to his instincts screaming at him to leave. He rushed back to the inn they were staying at to convince his master to leave. But knowing him, he will not leave until he helped these villagers. Before he could even step through the sliding door, fire broke out. Wally saw the look on his master's face as he grabbed his sword to flee with his master in tow. Before they pair could escape they were stopped by the villagers who blocked their exit wielding weapons. Having no choice, Wally and Barnaby fought side by side to knock out the villagers without trying to kill them but when wally cut their strings their bodies fell limp to the ground, he could barely have time to process what happened when his master shouted at him to move forward. They ran and sliced the strings with their swords and almost made it out of the horrendous village, wally hears a scream...a scream he would never forget. Their it was the entity, it's eyes were covered by the black straw hat casting a shadow over its face, a black and red kimono that covered what's hiding underneath, long black hair that flowed through the wind. The entity wasn't human at all but looked tall and boney enough to kill but Wally's eyes caught the sword that impaled through his master's chest. Feeling shock and anger the young samurai let out a fierce war cry and battles it out with the home entity with fierce blows of his sword. He was smart enough to dodge and cut any strings that came his way. He wants to kill this demon and make sure it doesn't harm anyone else. Before wally can bring down the final blow, His master Barnaby had enough energy left in him to perform the kanji spell powerful enough to seal the demon away forever. The creature let out a shriek of agony when a burst of light sealed it away in the tapestry with that single paper that can not be removed unless there was someone out there powerful enough to remove it. Once it was done the village was collapsing all around them, wally ran over to help his master up so they could leave. He looked behind him to take a closet look at the villagers bodies to see if they can rescue them but to his horror, the villagers were nothing but decaying corpses. Wally felt sick to his stomach when they left the place, they both stood on a hill far away from the village as he watched everything being sucked into that cave and disappear with the seal on the rock that closed the cave forever. The villagers he talked with had fun with were decaying corpses controlled by strings with the curse of that entity blinding anyone that came into that village and that entity was draining their life essence to keep it alive. To blind outsiders to the cold hard truth of that village. Once they were far away and the fire long gone from that evil village, wally sat his master against a tree as he tried his best to dress his wounds to stop the bleeding. But no matter what he did, it wouldn't save him. Barnaby held his hand and said these words to him, "Use the teachings I have taught you and use them to fight for evil and protect those in need of your help." Barnaby took off the beaded talisman from his wrist and with a shaking hand put into the palm of the young samurai's hand, "Take on...on my legacy, I am so proud of you and proud to call myself, your master... Don't use my death as your failure...you...are my best student...." Wally watched as his master took his last final breath, the young samurai didn't dare take the blind fold off from his master's eyes. Rain started to pour down mixing with the atmosphere around them. The young samurai clutched the bracelet in his hand tightly as tears streamed down his cheeks mixing in with the rain. He cried and sobbed over his deceased master then let out a sheer scream/cry of anguish and pain. Five years later, the Ronin traveled all over, not getting close to anyone but helps anybody he comes across who needs help, he no longer knows what to fight for or who to fight for. He grew cold over the years and just stopped helping people altogether, losing the sense he had to fight for evil, rather letting others fight their own battles. Feeling great shame and guilt for not helping his master, for not listening to his instincts. The lone Ronin would soon have a traveling companion that follows him, even though he tried everything to get rid of them and yet, they always find their way back to him. It's annoying that they follow him around like a lost puppy. It sickens him and yet...he kinda enjoys their company but he will never tell them that. How did they met? Well that's another story for another day.
